Ingredients
1 tbsp. butter or marg
2 pouinds cooking apples (Delicious or Granny Smith), peeled, cored and thinly sliced into wedges
3 tbsp. granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 cup milk
2 eggs
2 egg whites
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. flour
Confectioners sugar
Preparation
- Heat oven to 425
- Melt butter in large ovenproof skillet. Add apples, 2 tbsp. sugar; cook, stirring, 15 to 20 minitues, until apples are tender and liquid has evaporated. Stir in vanilla and cinnamon. Remove from heat.
- Beat together milk, eggs, egg whites, remaining 1 tbsp. sugar and salt in bow. Gradually whisk in flour until well blended and smooth. Pour batter over hot apples.
- Bake in 450 oven for 20 min. Reduce heat to 350, bake 10 to 15 min., until puffed and browned. Sprinkle with sugar. Cut into wedges.
