Ingredients
1 pkg puff pastry
6 strips of double smoked thick sliced bacon or pancetta diced
4 onion thinly sliced
2 tbsp butter
1 pkg quark cheese
salt and pepper
nutmeg (to taste)
1 c grated Gruyere cheese
Preparation
Roll out puff pastry according to package and line baking sheet.
Brown bacon until lightly browned and remove from pan. Add butter and saute onions slowly until very soft and caramelized. Add bacon and allow onion mixture to cool slightly. Add quark (just enough to generously coat the onion/bacon mixture). Season with salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Spread mixture over puff pastry and sprinkle with Gruyere cheese. Bake until pastry underside is brown and crispy (approx 25 minutes or more)
