Ingredients

24 shallots (peeled and cut)

3T olive oil

6C beef broth

1-1/2C tawny port

1T tomato paste

2t thyme

7 slices bacon

6T butter

1-1/2T flour

Preparation

cook bacon

toss shallots with olive oil in pie plate. roast at 375 for 30 minutes

boil broth and port for 30 minutes

add tomato paste and thyme. bring to boil

add butter and flour to thicken. add shallots, bacon, salt and pepper to taste
