Ingredients
1 cup poppy seeds, ground
1/2 cup sugar
Grated rind of 1/2 lemon
1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup raisins
2 tablespoons melted butter
Preparation
Combine poppy seeds, sugar, lemon rind and milk in the top of a double boiler. Cook over hot water until slightly thickened. Add raisins and cool.
Prepare and stretch strudel dough according to directions. (I used a purchased filo pastry leaves and also my own strudel dough recipe) Brush with melted butter. Spread poppy seed mixture over 2/3 of the dough. Roll up tightly and place on a baking sheet. Bake in a moderate oven 350°F 45 minutes or until browned.
