Ingredients
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
11 tablespoons vegetable shortening
1/3 cup cold water
Preparation
Mix dry ingredients well. Add vegetable shortening and cut into flour mixture until the consistency of wet sand. Add water and mix slightly.
Place on a floured board and roll thin. This is a very tender crust if the shortening is properly cut in, and you can “play with it quite a bit without harming it.
For tarts, cut in large circles to fit into muffin tins.
