Ingredients

1 medium red onion, finely chopped 

1/2 cup red-wine vinegar 

3 tablespoons white vinegar 

2 teaspoons sugar 

1 1/2 tablespoons coarse salt 

Preparation

Place all ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Remove from heat and let steep for 20 minutes. Let cool before using.
