Ingredients
2 eggs separated
1cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon cardamom
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/3 c chopped citron
Grated peel from 1 lemon
2cups flour
Preparation
- Beat together well 2egg yolks and 1cup of sugar
- In a separate bowl with clean beaters beat egg whites until stiff; fold into egg yolk and sugar mixture
- Stir in cinnamon, cloves,cardamom,white pepper, 1/3 cup citron.and grated lemon peel 4 Add 2 cups of flour 5 Mix well and knead slightly on a floured board. Form into little balls (size of a walnut) Place on ungreased cookie sheet 6.Bake in moderate oven 375F 15 minutes or until lightly brown 7 Cool. Store in air tight container
Can keep for 3-5 months. That is if they last that long
