Ingredients
6 to 8 tart apples sliced (8 cups)
3/4 to 1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Dash ground nutmet
Pastry for 2-crust 9 inch pie
2 tablespoons butter
Preparation
Combine sugar, flour, spices, and salt; mix with apples. Line 9-inch pie plate with pastry (see Crisco Pastry). Fill with apple mixture; dot with butter. Adjust top crust, cutting slits for escape of stem; seal. Sprinkle with sugar if you like. Bake at 400 F for 50 minutes or till done.
