Ingredients

5 pears

2/3-3/4 cup sugar

1 t anise

grated rind of 1 lemon

1T lemon juice

1T butter

3T corn starch

Preparation

Peel and slice pears. Mix together sugar, corn starch, anise & rind. Sprinkle over pears and mix gently.

Heat oven to 425°.

Line 8" pie plate with pastry, fill with pears, sprinkle with lemon juice. Dot with butter. Add top crust. Cut steam vents, bake 35-40 minutes. Cool.

Glaze with mixture of 1/2 cup sifted confectioners’ sugar, 1 t lemon juice and 1-2 t water.
